Harvest Time In the Country

The 'south' does have some of the most intriguing farms.  As october sneaks by...can't believe its passing so fast, I am pushed to explore more of this country land.  We came across this children's paradise called "Lucky Ladd Farms" filled with rides and creative kid courses all made put of farm equipment. There were colorful creations all over, hay bails made into pigs, lil cars made out of water barrels, tire swings cut into horses, wagon rides, burlap sac slides, petting farm, nature trails...
...the fun never ends with this lil piece of childrens heaven tucked in the countryside of Tennessee.

We even ran into my ginger goddess friend Amanda and her family. Oh how I love her soo...

Mazi pretended to ride a hay bail horse...all while holding her rice cracker which she held for the entire stay.
 Metal creations lined the pathways...

I found the sling incredibly useful for keeping my sweetie safe and close as I played on the slides and swings, I had to do this slide a couple of times, being a kid never gets old. I am long overdue to the playful nature of the child's imaginative mind. I am ashamed of myself for neglecting it for so long.  Finding this place inside me again felt so exhilarating and for a moment again I was full of freedom.

Mazi is such a stoic little thing, I was screaming and laughing while she looked on analyzing the details of the slide lined with hay bails and why it isn't like the ones at the park that she's use to...haha silly babe of mine.

Mr. Peek found himself at the top of 'Pumpkin Peak' which was the perfect place for this sweet man of mine.

Mazi has an obsession with tractors and loves pointing them out everywhere we go. She shows us how those large tires go round and round.
I am so curious as I watch her try and figure out how all these animals work. She loves animals, as do I and she stares at them with such curious eyes but she is so hesitant to touch and feel what they are all about.
I help her explore the thick, squishy, wool of the sheep. It's texture feels like our mattress topper on our bed and it is magical to see where it comes from and to appreciate how these animals give to us. I am so grateful that they exist on this world. I hope to teach Mazi to always give back to them.
As we were chased by this llama, begging for food of course, Mazi looked at his eyes and was certainly not going to reach out and make any contact.
Watching her in her daddy's arms and holding his hand fills my heart with LOVE for these two gems in my life.
She is sooo close to walking...

 Tire swings cut into horses...
 Beautiful pathways...
Keeping her close to my heart as we explore and adventure together.
We ran into these lovely babywearing mommies whom I happened to exchange numbers with and am soooo excited to get together and talk motherhood and the joys and struggles of being a woman....EEEK!!

It was a lovely day with perfect weather and my family by my side. Thank you Lucky Ladd Farms for making this whimsical place for others to enjoy.
I plan on seeking out all the fun farms that plague the countryside of Nashville. Harvest time is so splendid!

Who Is Serving Whom?

I take far too many breaks from writing and I feel terrible that I do. I know that my thoughts struggle to stay mindfully positive, they are more mindfully frustrated and so I stop writing to keep from putting it "out there" but this too is helpful and keeps me real and RAW, what I want this blog to be.

I struggle to see my place in humanity at this time in my life.  Being a new Mother I give it all to Mazi, it is a blessing but I feel unbalanced as well.  I see and hear of so much destruction of our Earth and of her striking back with vigor, of humanity being so unconscious and destroying other human lives out of fear and power.  I don't have TV and I don't read the news (anymore) so this is usually word of mouth or what I happen to hear on NPR, the few times I decide to listen.  I avoid keeping up with current affairs because my personal life doesn't need this.  Inside I feel this battle in myself just being away from my home and my world of serving humanity I know there is a constant war that has plagued this planet, war on resources, war on food, war on power (money), war on each other and it won't stop til we individually stop.  I believe this is ALL because of old programming in our psyche that has been passed on from generation to generation affecting our choices each day.  The only stop it has is for individuals to want a change and make it or for parents to start becoming aware of how we are birthing our young into fear from day one.  I have faith that we will change though, because I will, and I am everyday.  Strangely, I believe it all starts from me, even though I also feel I am living in solitude with my baby, husband and animals.  Raising her is my priority right now and she will get from me my love, courage, and awareness of this life.  I leave out the distractions of current worldly issues.

I feel like the biggest change that will effect this world and all who encompass it in the future is the way we are bringing our young into this world and how they are brought up.  Thrown in a daycare for another to watch is for some a must but whom is it that is watching them, some staffed facility or another loving mother from the comforts of her loving home???

I am fortunate enough to stay home and attend solely to my Amazing Grace because of my hard working husband, whom I am sooo grateful for. I have recently thought about offering my home to a few other children whose parents aren't around so I can show those children awareness, courage, and Love.

In the meantime, I serve my chickens-who give us eggs everyday and lots of laughs too, I serve my dogs and cat- whom slobber me with kisses and stand by my side for every walk and every tear I shed while sitting outside in the moonlight with them, I try my hardest to serve the Earth by tending her soil and taking care not to create such a harmful impact as I live and in return we get nutritious food, I serve my baby girl- who is growing to prove that she will give me more than I could EVER give her, I serve my husband- who currently gives me more than I could ever imagine a man could give to a woman emotionally, and physically and he gives to our baby too....so, who is serving who actually??

They are all serving me! They give to me each and everyday. I keep thinking that the more animals we add, the more food we plant, the more we surround ourselves with chores to keep our hands full, the more chaotic our lives will be but we recieve so much back! Yes, my mother always said "service is the answer to life" she is one who gives sooo much to me in this life, she has proven once again to be a woman full of genuine wisdom.

An article that touched me and I feel every soon to be mother should read and absorb is from
"Birth Into Being" Birth Into Being-Limbic Imprint.  It explains sooo well what I feel inside to be my truth.

An Amazing Birthday Bash!

We tried to do a cake smash before her birthday party, just to see how she would take to cake.  My good friend Amanda made a Gluten-Free, low sugar cake...which I think tasted GREAT!!!
We stuck Amazing outside in little clothing, had her crawl to the cake, which she was very interested in at first,

then, she reached for the candle...
and this is pretty much how it ended up! She didn't even want to touch it.

The cat was excited about the sweet treat though!

Her Birthday Bash was such a great success!
We were on the farm so we had a country theme with hay for seating, wagon rides, kid pool and good ole fashioned country niblets and drinks...southern style...HEHE!

Mr. Peek was on a role as he didn't stop working the entire day! He truly made this first birthday magical! She was happy in his arms most  of the night.  SUCH a good Daddy!
We had so many good friends come to share this day with us. We are so thankful for the birth of our daughter and so thankful for the good peeps in our lives!

All kinds of characters came out to help us celebrate...Amanda, the pastry chef!

She was even happy to let Mrs. KK hold her for a good while. Oh she did sooo good!!
We had to try the cake smash one more time, just to see if things had changed, but she looked at it...
Looked at me, and signed "All Done" I guess thats what you get when your child eats real food her first year of life. We better pack in those oreos and processed food coloring before she turns two.....haha, jk like that will happen!!
If there is anything I can give to you miss Amazing Grace, it is that you will always look to our Earth as the great Mother who nourishes you and offers you her resources. It is that you will see what kind of an impact you have as a human being and try to keep your imprint on her small while your impression on humanity bold and with a positive impact. That you will treasure your body and feed it only the purest, real foods out there, that you'll move toward a life that feeds your soul and keeps your mind sharp with only the cleanest thoughts.
I hope that you will look up to your father and I and see our wisdom and that we can be great examples of how to live a life of happiness and LOVE and of giving back to the great Earth that gives to us every day.

We both love you more that words can express and that love will grow deeper and deeper throughout our lives. Thank you again for picking us to be your parents. You are AMAZING, my child

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!
